Calgary, Canada, 17 October 2018 – The University of Calgary, one of Canada’s most esteemed universities, today conferred His Highness the Aga Khan with a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to humanity.
October 2018 - The short documentary “Islamic Gardens: Catalysts for Change” is about the vast network of parks and gardens around the world developed by the Ismaili Imamat, under the leadership of His Highness the Aga Khan.
About 60% of people in low-income countries are “food insecure”. In Madagascar, one of the poorest countries in the world, some families eat only one meal a day during the “hungry season”. Since 2005, the Network has helped 80,000 rice farmers to produce crops of better quality, in less time and with less labour. In many areas, crop yields have tripled, and families no longer have to deal with chronic hunger.
October 2018 - Today, over 60 Aga Khan health centres are reaching more than 750,000 people in this area, responding to increasing concerns around high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer, and other non-communicable diseases.
