Today the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Pakistan AKAH won the World Habitat Awards 2020 Gold Award for its work helping vulnerable communities in Pakistan manage disaster risk and plan for a better future, using hazard vulnerability and risk assessments.
In a statement delivered at the virtually held 2020 Afghanistan Conference by AKDN’s Diplomatic Representative to Afghanistan Sheherazade Hirji, His Highness the Aga Khan, noted that as the country entered into a new period of transition, it would need the contribution of all of its people to address their common challenges: rising poverty, climate disruption, an unforgiving pandemic.
Matt Reed, the Aga Khan Foundation’s CEO, introduces the Aga Khan Centre in London’s Knowledge Quarter, speaking on the challenge put to the building’s designer, Fumihiko Maki, the Pritzker Prize winning architect, by His Highness the Aga Khan. The Aga Khan talked about the three qualities that should animate any such building: openness, light and pluralism.
