2020 is being observed as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. The year-long campaign celebrates the work and impact of nurses and midwives, and raises important questions about the role they can play in raising the standard of healthcare for communities around the world.

Zanzibaris are served by more than 200 health facilities providing primary, primary-plus, secondary and tertiary health care. At the forefront of those delivering care are nurses and midwives. For over 15 years the Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery has been working with these individuals, helping build the necessary skills for the nurses and midwives of Zanzibar to transform the landscape of health.
