Why is school safety important

16 May 2020

School safety ensures that future generations are protected from the adverse effects of disasters and it is given paramount importance in most countries across the world. Considering the urgent need of addressing the worrisome conditions in schools, which put the lives of thousands of children and teachers at stake, the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan organised the first-ever international conference on School Safety on 16 May. AKAH advised parents, students, and teachers to adopt the necessary measures to protect themselves and the children from getting the virus, most importantly by adopting hygienic practices.
