Royal couple observes impact of climate change

17 October 2019

On 16 October, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Chitral to witness the impact of climate change on fragile and remote communities. They visited the Chiatibo Glacier to see how climate change is causing glaciers to melt, creating risks for downstream communities. The royal couple was also briefed about some of the interventions of AKDN aimed at poverty reduction and raising the standard of life apart from making the region resilient to natural disasters. Among other projects, AKDN and the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme work closely with NGO ACTED, supported by UK Aid, and which helped to re-establish and train the village Emergency Response Team.
