Ocean Road Cancer Institute cuts waiting time for testing cancer

15 February 2021

On 11 February, an ultrasound machine was handed over to Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) by the Aga Khan Health Services, Tanzania (AKHS, T) through the Tanzania Comprehensive Cancer Project. Thanks to the new 3D Ultrasound machine, waiting time for testing cancer at ORCI will go down to 24 hours. Funded by both AKHS and the French Development Agency, the project will directly benefit approximately 1.7 million people in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza regions. Dr. Harrison Chuwa, Consultant Oncologist at the AKH, said the project would be achieved through a strategy that focuses on the enhanced performance and expanded outreach of the Tanzanian-based implementing partners, including AKHS-T.
