The Aga Khan Museum has a new CEO. Ulrike Al-Khamis, who had been the museum’s director of collections and public programmes since 2017, has been promoted to director and CEO, the museum announced last week. Al-Khamis said “I am deeply honoured and excited to be confirmed as the new CEO of the Aga Khan Museum, the only museum in North America with a mandate to foster pluralism and bridge cultures through and in dialogue with the arts of the Muslim world.” She went on to say that “in a dramatically changed world, the museum has a unique role to play – within our wonderful, diverse city of Toronto, across Canada, and internationally. Working with our passionate, inspiring museum team, I look forward to reimagining the museum with a renewed focus on education, the digital, and – most importantly and crucially – our audiences, with a keen eye and ear for their needs and expectations.”
