Malnutrition in Pakistan remains at forefront of government’s agenda

In Pakistan, four out of 10 children under the age of five years are stunted according to the new National Nutrition Survey, recently released by the Ministry of National Health Services. The survey was funded by the United Kingdom Government with technical support from UNICEF and was carried by the Aga Khan University (AKU). Professor Zulfiqar Ali Bhutta, Founding Director of Centre of Excellence in Women & Child Health at AKU said on the occasion that Pakistan was facing massive challenges in maternal and child nutrition was no longer news.
