"Neyssatou", the Tunisian diva of social inclusion

3 April 2019

At the Aga Khan Music Awards ceremony, Badiaâ Ouerghi Bouhrizi received the first Award for Social Inclusion, in recognition of her work and for having put her musical talent at the service of the struggle for social justice, pluralism and democracy. Interviewed by La Presse, she said: "I had the privilege to receive the first Social Inclusion Award from the first edition of the Aga Khan Music Awards. This is the first edition of the award for music, but the foundation has been working on music for almost 20 years through the Aga Khan Music Initiative (AKMI). I fully share the vision of AKMI, which strives to breathe new life into the cultural and musical heritage wherever it works by supporting traditional artists locally and empowering them.
