Kinfolk visited Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi and spoke with Luis Monreal, General Manager of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), to learn about AKTC’s work. The renewal of Humayun’s Tomb, alongside Sunder Nursery and Nizamuddin Basti, reflects the quiet but powerful approach that AKTC has taken in over a dozen countries – one that sees culture as both a source of identity and a driver of opportunity.
The work is grounded in the belief of His Late Highness Aga Khan IV that architecture is a service to society: that long-term investment in public spaces and the social fabric of a place can foster greater understanding, inclusion and quality of life for all.
