Our U.S. activities bring Americans together in partnership with people in Africa and Asia, helping communities around the world break the cycle of poverty and build better futures together. The Foundation hosts many events in the United States to raise awareness of global development and the Foundation’s work, and to raise funds that support its programs.
Funds raised through individual donors are leveraged through matching grants from leading donor agencies and partners, including the U.S. government. This creates a multiplier effect that amplifies the impact of every donation.
Inaugurated in 1995, the Aga Khan Foundation Walk|Run and golf tournaments (previously known as PartnershipsInAction) have expanded to fourteen major cities across the U.S., including Atlanta, Austin, Birmingham, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, New York, Orlando, San Antonio, Seattle, Silicon Valley and Sugar Land. Inspired by their desire to help communities across Africa and Asia build better futures, thousands of Aga Khan Foundation volunteers organize and run these events across the country, raising millions of dollars to support our programs.
