An Introduction to the Aga Khan Music Initiative
Central Asia, February 2010 - The Aga Khan Music Initiative promotes traditional music as part of a broader programme of development that encompasses the physical, social, cultural and economic revitalisation of communities in the Muslim world. Music of Central Asia, the Aga Khan Music Initiative’s panoramic 10-volume audio-visual survey of contemporary tradition-based music from Central Eurasia, is part of these efforts.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
