His Highness the Aga Khan Visits Earthquake-hit areas of Pakistan
Pakistan, 5 December 2005 - His Highness the Aga Khan visits the earthquake-affected areas of Muzaffarabad, capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Balakot, North West Frontier Province. He expressed his solidarity with the people of Pakistan and commended the relief efforts of the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army. Since the earthquake of 8 October, AKF helicopters have provided much needed food and supplies to those affected, and evacuated over 1000 casualties. Aga Khan Health Service and Aga Khan University have also been active in health intervention.

Microfinance for Women in Northern Pakistan
Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
