Mozambique, 23 November 2007 - Cabo Delgado, the northernmost province, suffers the highest rates of human poverty in the country. In 2003, the percentage of people living below the national poverty line in Cabo Delgado was reported at 63.1% compared to the 54 % reported nationally. It is estimated that Cabo Delgado has a per capita Gross National Product of less than half of the national average.
