His Highness Golden Jubilee Visits to Canada 18-25 November 2008 and 6 December 2008
6 December 2008 - His Highness the Aga Khan, Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), inaugurated the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat in the presence of the Prime Minister of Canada, Steven Harper. The Delegation will serve a representational role for the Imamat and its non-denominational, philanthropic development agencies, which constitute the AKDN.

Microfinance for Women in Northern Pakistan
Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
