In most areas where it works, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) integrates activities in health, education, rural development, environment and civil society (see the following pages), but at the same time its activities are reinforced by the work of other agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). The aim of this integrated effort is to introduce a range of disciplines and a variety of catalysts that, in combination, help spark a broad advance of economic, cultural and social development. Each section of this brochure begins with a two-page spread containing: 1) an “at a glance” map that situates AKDN’s activities – economic, social and cultural – in a given region and 2) a summary of these activities that takes about one minute to read. The pages which follow are then broken down by country. These texts and photos highlight AKF activities and programmes, emphasizing how they reinforce the work of other AKDN agencies or, in many cases, are implemented in partnership with those agencies.
