16 December 2010 - Mozambique’s Presdient Armando Guebuza and His Highness the Aga Khan inaugurated the refurbishment of the Serena Polana Hotel to its former glory. The Polana, long-considered the "Grande Dame" of Maputo, underwent a multi-year refurbishment. "World-class travel facilities can be crucial components of what we call ‘an enabling environment,’ a setting in which additional development initiatives can take root and thrive," said the Aga Khan.
