California, USA, April 2008 - During the second leg of his US visit, His Highness the Aga Khan met with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and was hosted to a luncheon held in his honour at the Getty Centre. The Aga Khan is visiting the states of Texas, California, Illinois and Georgia at the request of the four Governors. He ends his visit to the USA with a key note address on the importance of educating internationally, in Atlanta on Friday 18th April.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
