Aga Khan's Visit to Mozambique
His Highness the Aga Khan visiting development projects in remote areas of Mozambique's Cabo Delgado province.
Mozambique, 23 November 2007 - His Highness the Aga Khan, founder and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and the spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, yesterday visited development projects in remote areas of Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province - one of the poorest and most isolated in the country.

His Highness meeting with the President of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza, in the
Presidentīs Office.21 November 2007 - His Highness the Aga Khan, spiritual leader (Imam) of the Ismaili Muslims, yesterday praised Mozambique as a model of successful post-conflict development and hailed the country’s economic performance and tenacity in overcoming difficulties.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
