Since 2002, AKDN has been supporting the establishment of institutions and programmes that help develop an economically dynamic, politically stable and intellectually and culturally vibrant Kyrgyz Republic. Its programmes range from financial institutions that are helping build the nation’s economic infrastructure to support in several districts for the “tradition-bearers” of Kyrgyz music and oral recitation. Its rural development, health and education projects in Alai and Chon Alai districts of the Osh Oblast are implemented through the Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP).

Primary healthcare measures, such as immunisation, are essential components of community health, but often overall health only improves when the community understands the causes of illness, knows how to avoid them and is open to changing behaviours. Knowledge about the advantages of breastfeeding and the need for vitamin-rich foods are two examples of how awareness campaigns can have a significant impact on overall health. More

University of Central Asia Launches New Cultural Heritage Publications on the Pamirs
20 November 2015 - UCA launched three new books, which focus on the history and cultures of the Pamir region of Tajikistan, including an Archaeological Map of the Eastern Pamirs by Mira Bubnova and two volumes in The Musical Arts of the Pamirs series by Nizom Nurdjanov, Fayzulla Karomatov and Bahriniso Kabilova.

University of Central Asia Signs Milestone Curriculum Development Agreement with Seneca College, Canada
07 July 2015 - The University of Central Asia (UCA) signed a memorandum of understanding on 7 July 2015 with Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, located in Toronto, Canada to develop the English, mathematics and science curriculum for UCA’s first year Preparatory Programme.
