Humayun’s Tomb Conservation Completed
13 September 2013 - The restoration of the Mughal Emperor Humayun’s 16th century garden tomb, the jewel of Mughal architecture that predates the Taj Mahal, has been completed. Six years of conservation works and 200,000 work days undertaken by master craftsmen have been required to restore the Tomb’s Mughal finery.

Music and Voices of the Silk Route Celebrate Nowruz at Portuguese Parliament
02 April 2013 - As part of a week-long programmes celebrating Nowruz, musicians from the Silk Route performing with the Aga Khan Music Initiative (AKMI) presented a specially curated concert programme in the Senate Room of the Portuguese Parliament. Nowruz marks the beginning of Spring, which is a cherished holiday in the Silk Route region. A second concert was performed at the Ismaili Centre in Lisbon on the 27th of March.

University of Central Asia’s Kyrgyz Campus Completes Critical New Infrastructure
08 September 2010 - A new three-kilometer diversion of the Naryn State Road constructed by the University of Central Asia (UCA) -- one of several infrastructure projects completed by UCA that are essential for full-scale construction to start -- was formally handed over by UCA to the Naryn Oblast Administration. Other critical infrastructure projects include the significant strengthening of the banks of the Naryn River, the planting of over 40,000 trees and the construction of test buildings.

Building Disaster-Resilient Communities in Afghanistan
11 October 2009 - Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) is currently implementing a Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) project designed to increase awareness and disaster-resilience in highly vulnerable communities in Afghanistan. The aim is to strengthen the capability of these communities to anticipate, prepare for, respond to and recover from natural disasters.
