Edmonton, 25 August 1998 - In a keynote address at the conference of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE), attended by Canada's Prime Minister Jean Chretien and Alberta's Premier Ralph Klein, Princess Zahra, who co-ordinates social development activities of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), drew on a centuries-old tradition of service and proven successes in international development to describe how to mobilise voluntary effort into the next century.
