Affiliated Programmes

The Affiliated countries for the Civil Society programme are those countries in which there is an interest in civil society work which may be expanded into a civil society programme in the future e.g. Mozambique, through to countries where there is an operational civil society programme (e.f. Om Habibeh Foundation’s Sharaka Programme in Aswan). In general the civil society work in the affiliated countries is guided by the overarching goals and objectives of the civil society programme in the main 8 countries, but is not operating at the same density and depth of activities. Since its establishment in 2005, the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) has taken over 25 years of microfinance activities, programmes and banks that were administered by sister agencies within the AKDN. The underlying objectives of the Agency are to reduce poverty, diminish the vulnerability of poor populations and alleviate economic and social exclusion. more
