The concert also celebrates the European launch of the first three volumes of a ten-part Smithsonian Folkways CD and DVD anthology of Central Asian music.

Etape à Samarcande: Several groups from Central Asia will offer a spectrum of music and traditions from Central Asia. Groups will include: Tengir-Too (music from Kyrgyzstan), Mohi-Sitora (toy from Boukhara), Sahiba Davlatshaeva and Aqnazar Alovatov (traditions of Badkhashan), and musicians from AKMICA's school for bards in Kazakhstan.
