Aga Khan Trust for Culture

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture focuses on the physical, social, cultural and economic revitalisation of communities in the Muslim world. It includes the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme, the Music Initiative in Central Asia, the on-line resource ArchNet and the Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme, which focuses on
the physical, social, and economic revitalisation of historic sites in the Muslim world.

Music Initiative in Central Asia, a new initiative to provide financial resources and technical assistance to support the preservation and promotion of professional oral-tradition music throughout Central Asia and adjoining states.

Museums and Exhibitions, dedicated to presenting Islamic arts and culture in their historic, cultural and geographical diversity, is currently building three museums: the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, the Museum of Historic Cairo and the Indian Ocean Maritime Museum in Zanzibar. A series of travelling exhibitions and a programme of assistance to museums in developing countries are also under way.

Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture, an endowed centre of excellence in the history, theory and practice of Islamic architecture based at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

ArchNet.org, an on-line resource focusing on architecture, urban design, urban development, and related issues in the Muslim world (in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology).
