AKDN is building one of the three campuses of the University of Central Asia in Tekeli, Kazakhstan as part of one of Central Asia’s largest and most ambitious construction projects. World-class academic, administrative, residential, operational, library, cultural and athletic facilities will occupy between 280,000 - 300,000 square meters divided equally across the three campuses (the others are in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic and Khorog, Tajikistan), and will accommodate a residential population of almost 4000 students, faculty and staff.

The Aga Khan Music Initiative in Central Asia is also working in the country. Its aim is to contribute to the revitalisation and continuing evolution of music in Central Asia by identifying and supporting outstanding musical talent, cultivating new approaches to musical performance and pedagogy, documenting and disseminating the work of leading exponents of Central Asian music, and stimulating interest in the region’s music worldwide (Find out more).

Aga Khan Music Initiative and SOAS Sign Collaboration Agreement, Co-host “Musical Geographies of Central Asia” Conference and Concert
16 May 2012 - The Aga Khan Music Initiative and the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies have signed a wide-ranging, five-year collaboration focused on building expertise in the music and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa, Central Asia and South Asia. SOAS and the Initiative also hosted a confernece entitled "Musical Geographies of Central Asia”, 16-18 May 2012.

UCA's School of Professional and Continuing Education Teaches Critical Skills for Central Asia Economies
26 June 2009 - The University of Central Asia’s (UCA) School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPCE) is training adults and young people in the critical skills needed in the new Central Asia economies, including accounting, business English and mountain guide training. Over 5000 people have graduated from the SPCE.

Aga Khan Visits Central Asia
01 October 2008 - His Highness the Aga Khan completed a nine-day tour of three central Asian nations during which he met with top government officials.
